Background

Norlyn Kamal Basha joined TNG Digital on 1 December 2022 as Head of Legal & Company Secretarial and, effective 1 January 2026, serves as General Counsel, overseeing all legal affairs of the company.

Prior to joining TNG Digital, Norlyn was the Compliance Officer and Head of Legal & Secretariat at CapitaLand Malaysia Real Estate Investment Trust (CapitaLand) where she provided general legal advice including cross-border legal support to various business and functions within CapitaLand as well as working closely with and advising the CapitaLand Investment team on the acquisition and disposal of real estate, fund raising, merger and joint venture projects. In her corporate secretariat role, Norlyn advised the CapitaLand’s Board and Senior Management on the requirements under the Companies Act, 1965, Bursa Malaysia Securities Listing Requirements, REIT Guidelines and Securities Commission Malaysia’s legislations and guidelines to promote high standard of reporting, disclosure and compliance. She also worked closely with CapitaLand’s Board Committees to ensure good corporate governance. As Compliance Officer reporting directly to CapitaLand’s Audit Committee and Board, Norlyn ensured strict compliance of laws and regulatory requirement relating to REIT and non-REIT business and undertook compliance audits on all business units in accordance with existing laws and regulatory requirements relating to REIT. She also advised on operational and governance requirements under a range of legislations including those relating to anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, protection of personal data and whistleblowers.

Prior to her stint at CapitaLand, Norlyn was the Head of Group Legal and Joint Company Secretary at Malayan United Industries Berhad (MUIB), a Malaysian public listed company with businesses in retail, food & confectionary, property, hospitality and financial services where she advised on corporate and commercial matters, litigation and dispute resolution, industrial relations, intellectual property and real estate transactions. Norlyn also served as Non-Executive Director in MUIB’s financial services arm, PM Securities Sdn Bhd and PCB Asset Management Sdn Bhd.

Norlyn is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and holds an LL.B (Hons.) from University Malaya.
