Touch ‘n Go eWallet to charge 1% fee for all credit card reload, while bank transfers via DuitNow and debit cards remain free

TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd. (TNGD) will introduce a 1% fee for all credit card reloads starting February 23, 2024. All reloads via DuitNow Transfer and debit cards will continue to be free of charge. This move is to curb excessive cashing out of credit card balance to bank accounts and offset the heavy cost of credit card reload which TNGD has been subsidising since its inception. Users are encouraged to use bank transfers via DuitNow which has exactly the same process as fund transfer among bank accounts.

Bank transfers via DuitNow is subjected to enhanced anti-fraud measures such as biometric authentication and device binding to account, which makes it one of the safest reload methods.

Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd, said "As the largest financial institution serving over 20 million e-KYC verified users, we must find a fine balance between convenience, security, and the long-term cost sustainability of our company. To provide consumers more options, we still allow credit card as one of the reload channels, but we also urge users to reload their eWallet via DuitNow Transfers or debit cards, which are both free of charge.”

When opening an eWallet account, users are given a DuitNow account number, similar to any bank account. You may find this DuitNow account number on the eWallet's ‘Profile’ section. To transfer money from your bank account to our eWallet, users must log into their respective bank apps or websites, select ‘other banks/eWallet’ under the Transfer function, choose ‘Touch ‘n Go eWallet’ as the destination account, enter your Touch ‘n Go eWallet DuitNow account number, and then simply complete the same steps as for a bank transfer in order to transfer money.  Additionally, users are advised to save their Touch ‘n Go eWallet DuitNow account number as favourite for future transactions.
