TNG eWallet Secures Best E-Wallet Provider Again

Sep 29, 2025

When it comes to digital wallets in Malaysia, TNG eWallet remains the clear market leader — setting a benchmark that is difficult for others to match.

Founded in 2017, TNG Digital introduced TNG eWallet to support the nation’s push towards a cashless society, and to deliver digital payment and financial services to the underserved. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds, now reaching over 24 million verified users and more than 2 million merchants. Beyond payments, the platform has expanded into not just financial services like investments, insurance, lending, it also offers a diverse range of lifestyle services from F&B to entertainment.

TNG Digital’s rapid success can be attributed to its user-friendly app, vast merchant network, strong brand presence, and robust security features that safeguard customer funds.

This combination of innovation and inclusivity has earned the company consistent industry recognition. At the PC.com Awards 2025, TNG Digital once again clinched Best MSME E-Wallet and Best E-Wallet Provider — its third consecutive win, underscoring its enduring leadership and pivotal role in shaping the future of financial services.

Sarveswaran Raja Gopal, Chief Commercial Officer of TNG Digital, receives the Best eWallet award from Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President & Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University.

Milestones that Defined 2025

2025 was a transformative year for TNG Digital, marked by the beginning of sustained profitability and innovations that advanced financial inclusion. Since Q3 2024, the company has remained consistently profitable, supported by over 24 million verified users. While payments remain central, the year also brought new services that made daily life easier.

The digitalised My50 Travel Pass recorded nearly 100,000 purchases in its first month, while SOS Balance processed close to 10 million transactions worth over RM8 million, ensuring uninterrupted travel for motorists.

In a landmark move, TNG Digital partnered with UNHCR to enable refugees in Malaysia to use TNG eWallet — a step that CEO Alan Ni called “a reflection of our mission to ensure no one is left behind in the digital economy.”

Beyond payments, TNG Digital has deepened its financial ecosystem through GOfinance, which now serves as a hub for investments, insurance, and lending. Its flagship savings product, GO+, now serves nearly 3.6 million active users, with assets under management doubling to over RM1.5 billion.

Furthering its support for grassroots businesses, the company launched the TNG Digital Business Account in June 2025, designed specifically for micro-SMEs and gig workers.

This fully digital, no-fee account enables small businesses to accept payments, manage transactions, and grow securely via mobile devices. The product has already attracted 70,000 merchants, underscoring its impact.

In other ventures, TNG Digital strengthened its cross-border payment leadership in 2025, enabling transactions across more than 50 countries. Overseas QR payments rose 83% year- to-date, while the Touch ‘n Go eWallet Visa Card — enhanced with an in-app currency exchange calculator — saw usage climb 105%.

Cross-border remittances surged 243%, delivering affordable and secure transfers worldwide. The platform also supported tourism by enabling ASEAN visitors to pay cashlessly in Malaysia, driving a 320% increase in micro- business transactions between April and July 2025.

Gratitude and Shared Success

For TNG Digital, the recent PC.Com awards are a shared victory with the millions of users and merchants who trust TNG eWallet daily. Ni called it “a recognition that belongs as much to our users and merchants as it does to us, because their trust is what drives us forward.”

Winning Best MSME E-Wallet and Best E-Wallet Provider for the third consecutive year reflects both the consistency of TNG Digital’s efforts and the confidence Malaysians place in the platform.

Ni explained that the honours affirm the company’s broader mission, stating, “TNG eWallet is now deeply embedded in daily life, from simplifying commutes to empowering businesses and enabling cross-border convenience. Our focus remains on listening to real challenges and innovating to solve them.”

Looking Ahead: Sustaining Momentum

As TNG Digital looks toward 2026, its strategy centres on financial inclusion, literacy, and innovation. The company plans to broaden its offerings for lower-income and mass- market segments, using partnerships and technology to deliver quality financial services to more Malaysians. This strategy has made TNG eWallet the closest to a super app in the market.

At the same time, it is expanding financial literacy initiatives, working with industry partners to provide practical tools that help users make informed decisions and build lasting wealth.

Innovation remains at the heart of this journey. TNGDigital will continue investing in fraud prevention, data security, and seamless integration across its platform, while developing personalised financial solutions to match diverse user needs.

This focus ensures TNG eWallet remains secure, intuitive, and relevant — a trusted companion as Malaysians navigate the digital economy.

When discussing their vision for TNG Digital’s future, Ni stated, “TNG eWallet is now deeply embedded into the daily experiences of millions, from simplifying commutes to empowering businesses and enabling cross-border convenience. We are committed to keeping our ears on the ground, understanding real challenges faced by both consumers and businesses, and innovating to solve them.”
