TNG Digital partners with Gadget Flow to empower communities in need through device giveaway this Ramadan

TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd. ('TNG Digital'), Malaysia's largest integrated fintech player, partnered with Gadget Flow to distribute a total of 500 mobile devices to selected recipients with 100 being given out at the PRIHATIN Kasih Madani Ramadan event yesterday. Graced by the Minister of Communications, YB Tuan Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, this initiative is backed by the launch of Device2Cash, a new feature available in TNG eWallet that enables users to sell pre-owned devices for cash.

This initiative reflects TNG Digital’s ongoing commitment to empowering underserved communities with digital access while promoting sustainability through ethical device management. Device2Cash fulfils two key benefits: it provides users with a financial benefit while supporting a more sustainable future by giving devices a second life.

Mohd Herman Sarbini, Chief Operations Officer of TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, said, “Through our sustainability pillars, Tech4Good and Digital and Financial Inclusion, we are committed to fostering both digital inclusion and sustainability in our society. With a simple act of giving, we hope these 500 devices will help these communities stay connected and participate in the digital economy.”

He further emphasised the role of Device2Cash in bridging the digital divide while tackling Malaysia’s e-waste challenges. “By providing a seamless ecosystem for users to responsibly sell their old devices, Device2Cash not only offers financial benefits but also reduces environmental impact. These old devices are given a second life through responsible reuse and recycling, contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive digital economy.”

Through this strategic partnership with Gadget Flow, users can now conveniently trade in a wide range of old electronic devices at fair and transparent rates via Device2Cash in TNG eWallet. This feature streamlines the entire process—from connecting with buyers and coordinating device handovers to receiving cash directly in their TNG eWallet, ensuring a seamless user experience. To make it even more convenient, devices submitted for sale will be picked up for free, eliminating the hassle of drop-offs. Beyond facilitating this process, this partnership is driving greater participation in the circular economy while promoting sustainable digital waste management.

“We are honoured to partner with TNG Digital to launch Device2Cash, representing a meaningful contribution to the community that enables more Malaysians to stay connected in the digital era. This partnership aligns with the core purpose of our business, which is to empower individuals with access to affordable technology. Through the collection, quality assessment, and refurbishment of old devices, we are not only giving these smartphones a second life but also fostering a more inclusive and sustainable approach to digital access,” said Li Dong, Managing Director of Gadget Flow.

As part of the PRIHATIN Kasih Madani Ramadan event, TNG Digital also contributed essential items, in addition to mobile devices to residents of Lembah Pantai, ensuring that assistance reached those in need. This initiative reflects the strong commitment of all parties to empowering vulnerable communities and supporting their integration into the digital economy.

According to YB Fahmi Fadzil, this initiative not only embodies the spirit of togetherness during Ramadan but also serves as a symbol of care and inclusivity, ensuring support for those in need, regardless of race.

"I truly appreciate the efforts of all parties involved in making this program a success. I hope initiatives like this will continue in the future to support more individuals in need. TNG Digital’s donation of refurbished smartphones today is timely, as it helps provide better access to digital services for underserved communities. This aligns with the government's efforts to ensure Malaysians receive authentic and accurate information at all times," he said.

To further support the digitisation of underserved communities, TNG Digital will distribute an additional 1,000 mobile devices to eligible TNG eWallet users on a first-come, first-served basis through the Device2Cash feature starting 6 March 2025.
