The Demand and Supply Planning Specialist is responsible for balancing demand forecasts with supply chain operations efficiently. The role involves analyzing trends, collaborating across departments, optimizing inventory, and leveraging automation and data visualization tools like Power BI to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Demand Forecasting & Planning:Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts by analysing historical sales data, market trends, and customer behaviour.Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to gather inputs and adjust forecasts based on promotional activities, seasonality, and new product launches.Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust planning methods accordingly to reduce forecast errors.Supply Planning & Inventory Management:Create supply plans that align with demand forecasts, considering lead times, supplier capacities, and inventory targets.Ensure optimal stock levels are maintained across distribution centers to meet customer demand while avoiding overstocking or stockouts.Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to manage the flow of goods through the supply chain. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams (Business unit, procurement, finance, and internal operations) to ensure alignment on demand forecasts and supply plans.Communicate forecast updates, inventory risks, and supply chain performance to relevant stakeholders.Act as the liaison between demand planners and supply chain teams to address any discrepancies or challenges in fulfilling demand. Capacity & Production Planning: Work with suppliers and production teams to align capacity planning with demand forecasts.Adjust production schedules or procurement plans based on changes in demand, supply chain disruptions, or other unforeseen factors. Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse demand patterns, inventory performance, and supply chain metrics to identify areas for improvement.Provide regular reports on forecast accuracy, inventory levels, service levels, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.Identify risks and opportunities within the demand and supply chain processes. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine demand and supply planning processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.Implement best practices in demand forecasting, supply planning, and inventory optimization to streamline operations. Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate the impact of supply shortages, delays, or demand fluctuations.Proactively manage stock levels in response to changing market conditions or disruptions.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field.
Proven experience in demand planning, supply chain management, or inventory management.
Proficiency in demand forecasting tools and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, JDA).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
Strong skills in Power BI for data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Experience:
At least 3 year work experience in similar role
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience managing multiple teams and projects.
Ideal if candidate has some working experience in Operations, Business Process Improvements / Transformation, Analytics, Management / Process Advisory in related fields.
Skills/Knowledge:
Experience with statistical forecasting techniques and tools.
Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Familiarity with supply chain modelling and optimization techniques.
Strong ability to analyse data, provide conclusions and recommendations. Therefore, advanced Excel capabilities is required.
Advanced skills in Power BI and other data visualization tools.
