Launch Of Ambank CDM Touch ‘n Go Reload Facility
Speech By Puan Basariah Abdul Latiff
Chief Operating Officer, Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd)
Tarikh: Monday, 24 April 2006
Masa: 3pm
Tempat: Level 48, Menara Ambank,
No 8, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 50450 KL

En. Mohamed Azmi Mahmood
Managing Director, Retail Banking
AmBank (M) Bhd

The management of AmBank, ladies and gentlemen and members of the Media.

Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahiwabarakatuh and a very good afternoon.

It is a very special day for me today.  It is special because this is the first time that I am delivering a speech on the 48th floor of Menara Ambank that offers a splendid view of our nation’s mega structure – the Petronas Twin Tower.

However, ladies and gentlemen, the awesome landmark beyond the window of this building is only part of the elements that make this day a very special day.  For today, Petronas Twin Tower must give way to another type of landmark that is taking place right here, right now.

Ladies and gentlemen, the landmark that I am referring to, is the augmentation of AmBank Berhad to become the first in Malaysia to offer Touch ‘n Go reload facility via the Cash Deposit Machine (CDM).

On behalf of Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd), the operator of Touch ‘n Go and SmartTAG, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartiest congratulations to them for making it there first.  At the same time, we would also like to officially welcome AmBank as one of our valuable business partners.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you.

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe both parties have put in a lot of efforts into this project to make it a success.  The efforts alone are worthy to be mentioned because not only that we are able to launch a new service to our customers, but it also paved the way for TNGSB and AmBank to build a promising working relationship from here onwards.  This is a good start and a sign that our business ties will surely go a long way.  You can rest assure that TNGSB will be fully committed to making this partnership a mutually beneficial one.

Ladies and gentlemen, the partnership with AmBank is in line with our business objectives to achieve continuous growth.  Currently, around 35% of toll highway users are using Touch ‘n Go card.  This constitutes about over 1 million transactions a day.  We plan to increase the number of transactions to 50% by the end of this year.  Yes, it is a bold target but not an unrealistic one.

With the Common Ticketing System being implemented at Klang Valley where major public transport operators had already committed to accept Touch ‘n Go payment, as well as the increasing number of parking sites, we are confident that this acquisition objective is within our grasp.  But in order to achieve this, we will have to double up our efforts.  That is why we cannot rest on our laurels.  To promote Touch ‘n Go electronic payment and make it the consumers’ preferred choice, the first most important step is to make our products and services easily accessible to as many people as possible.

Thanks to AmBank.  With their branches prominently located at Klang Valley and major cities, which is also the locations where Touch ‘n Go payment service is concentrated, we are able to extend seamless and convenient reload services to our valuable customers.  I have confidence in AmBank that CDM reload will be most welcomed by the consumers because they do not have to have an account with AmBank to enjoy this service.

Ladies and gentlemen, the expansion plan of Touch ‘n Go service network does not stop here.  Talks are already underway to include more financial institutions, 24-hour convenient stores, external agents as well as petrol kiosks to offer our services.

We have also in our pipeline, aggressive plans to acquire new customers and to encourage usage.  So ladies and gentlemen, the partnership with AmBank is really a strategic one as they are able to add value to our products and services and help us reach out to our customers.

Before I conclude my speech, once again I would like to express my utmost gratitude to the Management of AmBank Berhad for making this partnership possible.  Not forgetting all the people behind the scenes, from the technical staff of both parties to the system integrator, as well as the security personnel, who have been working tirelessly to make this project a success.  Many thanks to the Media too for being so supportive of all our activities and we hope to continue this wonderful relationship with all of you.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahiwabarakatuh.
