Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday:- Lucky motorists that pass through Sg Besi Toll Plaza were pleasantly surprised as Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd), the operator of Touch ‘n Go cards and SmarTAG was giving away FREE Touch ‘n Go cards.
The cards, were given away by its Chief Operating Officer, Puan Basariah Abdul Latiff.
“We want more people to experience the convenience of the Touch ‘n Go cards by giving them these cards for FREE. All they need to do is reload their cards,” said Basariah.
The cards were distributed at four highways comprising the Karak – KL Highway, the Ampang Elevated Highway, East – West Link Expressway (Cheras Bound) and Sg Besi Toll Plaza.
The programme is also to increase awareness on electronic payment system via Touch ‘n Go card to the public.
“Many are aware of Touch ‘n Go card but they do not realize how convenient it is to travel using this card. Our giving them away for FREE is hoped to give the public a little push towards using the card on a permanent basis”, she added.
Currently, only 38% of highway motorists are using Touch ‘n Go cards.
TNGSB started its operations in Malaysia in March 1997. It’s headquarters is situated in Menara Faber Kuala Lumpur. Currently there are more than 3 million Touch ‘n Go cards in circulation and over 500 thousand SmartTAG users in the country. Touch ‘n Go is a multi-model card that can be used at toll lanes, public transports, selected parking places and theme parks. |
